There are times when we experience setbacks. Sometimes we stumble, fail, and repeat the same mistakes without learning from them. But what if we fail, rise back up, and make a change? Recently, I noticed an increase of 7 lbs on the scale. While there could be various reasons for this, my 7 lbs could be equivalent to 2 lbs for others. Although I might shed some weight overnight, that number staring back at me was a wake-up call. As I stood barefoot, filled with frustration, and confronted that number, my mind raced with self-criticism.
However, I paused when I recalled a lesson from my past. During my time as a Training Manager in a recruitment firm, I used to emphasize to my team that failures are essential for growth. When you fail, establish procedures and systems to prevent making the same mistakes. It was time for me to follow my own guidance.
The way I used to navigate life was hindering my chances of success. Living with five other people has posed challenges for me. I have little say in the food choices at home and have come to terms with this limitation. Despite being in charge of grocery shopping, I am adapting to the situation and striving to find a balance.
I have recently joined a challenging underwater aerobics class that incorporates special underwater treadmills and bikes. Excited for my first session tomorrow.
To resist temptation, I have stocked my house with healthy food options, making cooking a regular part of my routine, which is a new habit for me. Feeling accomplished as I cooked during my lunch break today, and even my son wanted to try some. We enjoyed sea scallops and steamed broccoli together.
Setting a good example leads others to follow suit. Proud to lead healthy initiatives within our household.
